BLAINE
October 1, 1929: Certification of private lights: "Blaine, Wash.---The Richfield Oil Co. of California is operating a 24-inch beacon, 8,000,000 candlepower, six revolutions per minute, elevation of main beam above horizon 1 degree, located one-half mile north of Blaine post office, latitude 49 degree 00' 00", longitude 122 degree 45' 00"; altitude 40 feet. This beacon is mounted on top of a 125-foot tower. Red neon signs are on two sides of the tower with the word "Richfield," a third side having initials "BE" in neon 15-foot letters. No directional projector is operated, as beacon is located on site of Blaine Airport, to be constructed." (Air Commerce Bulletin, Vol. 1, No. 7)
