October 1, 1929: Certification of private lights: "San Francisco, Calif.---The Richfield Oil Co. of California is operating a 24-inch beacon, 8,000,000 candlepower, two revolutions per minute, elevation of the main beam above horizon 2 1/2 degrees, located at the intersection of Market Street and Van Ness Avenue, latitude 37 degree 46' 30", longitude 122 degree 25' 6"; altitude 30 feet. This beacon is mounted on top of a 125-foot tower with red neon sign 115 long, with word "Richfield" on two sides, and third side has initials "SF" in neon 15-foot letters. A 24-inch directional projector of 8,000,000 candlepower, elevation of beam above horizon 1 degree, points to the San Fransisco Municipal Airport located 12 miles due south." January 2, 1930: "San Francisco, Calif.---The 24-inch rotating beacon, 8,000,000 candlepower, showing 2 rotations per minute, formerly operated by the Richfield Oil Co. of California at the intersection of Market Street and Van Ness Avenue, San Francisco, has been discontinued."
