November 11, 1928: "The second tower was the beacon tower at Palm City, within a very short distance of the international line at Tia Juana, Mexico." (Napa Journal)
December 16, 1928: "With a formal celebration tomorrow afternoon at Palm City, southernmost point of the proposed Mexico-to-Canada chain of Richfield aviation beacons, and with an hour's radio broadcast tomorrow evening starting at 8 o'clock, the formal opening of six of the gigantic Richfield Oil Company Neon beacon towers will take place.
Following the official celebration at Palm City in the afternoon at which several squadrons of navy and commercial planes will fly in formation over the beacon. Admiral Ashby H. Robertson will throw the switch which simultaneously turns the light on the first group of finished beacons." (The Los Angeles Times)
April 5, 1929: "Mr. and Mrs. D. L. Kennedy, formerly of Los Angeles, have located in the Scheuerman duplex on East Seventh street. Mr. Kennedy has charge of the Richfield service station and beacon light at Palm City." (National City Star-News)
