October 1, 1929: Certification of private lights: "Stanwood, Wash.---The Richfield Oil Co. of California is operating a 24-inch beacon, 8,000,000 candlepower, two revolutions per minute, elevation of main beam above horizon 1 degree, located 1 1/2 miles east of Stanwood post office, latitude 48 degree 12' 00", longitude 122 degree 20' 00"; altitude 100 feet. This beacon is mounted on top of a 125-foot tower. Red neon signs with the word "Richfield" are on two sides of the tower, a third side having initials "SW" in 15-foot letters. No directional projector is operated, as beacon is 20 miles from nearest lighted landing field." (Air Commerce Bulletin, Vol. 1, No. 7)
