WILLOWS
November 27, 1928: "A lot on the highway north of Willows has been purchased by the Richfield Oil company for use as a site for an aerial beacon. The lot is situated at the intersection just north of the county hospital, on the west side of the highway.
The beacon will be one of a string which will extend between San Diego and Blaine, Wash. The next beacon to the north will be at Redding. The beacon will be 125 feet in height and will be lighted with neon tubes, running its entire length. Thus it will appear as a column of light." (Appeal-Democrat)

March 7, 1931: "Officials at the Willows Richfield Beacon station have received orders from their company to turn off their aerial beacon, which for more than a year has been one of the station's features. The step is thought to have been taken to reduce operating expenses." (Colusa Herald)
